Our Mission - Why We Exist!

The Center for Women's Business Research provides rigorous data-driven knowledge that advances the economic, social, and political impact of women business owners and their enterprises. We do this by setting the global agenda; creating insight on the status and achievements of women business owners; altering perceptions and practice about the economic viability and progress of women-owned enterprises; and defining the driving awareness of the economic and social impact of this vital business sector.

Patricia G. Greene, CWBR Board Chair

Thank you once again to all participants in our latest W-Biz Insight survey. October is our regular month for the bi-annual Key Bank Confidence Index and we'll be back to you shortly with results.

Please note our NEW FEATURE of our website - the Research To Action blog. In order to advance our mission of providing data-driven knowledge, we welcome our CWBR Action to Research Correspondent who will regularly review a current research project and share thoughts on how this can actually be used by business owners, service providers, policy makers, and so forth. Our first blog focuses on that old but enduring beast - fear of failure.

Two particular congratulations are in order this month as well. The WIPP conference provided a great venue for talking about the hard policy issues facing women entrepreneurs and the 5th Annual Springboard Enterprises Winners' Circle Awards Dinner was a celebration of success and role models for us all.

It's going to be a big finish to 2011 for CWBR. Please watch for our release of our first global report in partnership with GEM (Global Entrepreneurship Monitor). We'll also release the latest version of our Key Fact Cards - first time with global numbers! And finally, we'll close out the year with a December 7th event to launch the next stage of our Accelerating the Growth of Businesses Owned by Women of Color.
